52x52: Share on a Train, Bus or Queue

52 random acts of kindness that each take under 52 seconds. One action each week, over a year takes less than an hour of your life.

When we have gone on trips with young people we have had bags of sweets or fruit or brioche or such things to share and enjoy on journeys. More often than not, because we attract attention (maybe because of the noise) people notice us handing out the treats and we offer the people near us some of our fayre. This is not as a bribe to put up with the disruption of their journey by the group but its amazing how appreciative people are of such an offering by complete strangers. It's a random act of kindness that has got responses, from crying gratitude on one person's 'especially crappy' day to a sing-song on a night bus

Try it out. Next time you buy your favorite sweets, buy a bigger bag or if you are picking up some satsumas, get a few extra and offer them to the people sitting beside you on the bus or sharing your journey on the train or in the queue at the bank. Even if they don't want it - bet it makes them smile!
