52x52: Become a Secret Gardener

52 random acts of kindness that each take under 52 seconds. One action each week, over a year takes less than an hour of your life.

Many of us have seeds lying about from packs given free in everything from kids brioche packs to magazine fronts. What are we doing with them? If they are spare, why not do a bit of secret gardening and brighten up a piece of communal ground.

Places which can be transformed for the benefit of everyone include areas like traffic islands, waste ground and ugly bits of unused property. Or maybe a patch in your school or your  child's school grounds could do with a face lift or the window box at the doctor's surgery is looking bare, or some unsightly weeds are ruining someone's path.

Whether, as you pass by, you pick a few weeds or drop a few seeds, you will be brightening up the environment and perhaps creating some new habitats for bee and butterflies, for people to enjoy.
