'Be the Change You Want to See in the World'
This quote has been attributed to Gandhi and in essence what he believed, however as Brian Morton of the New York Times (2011) points out, there is 'no reliable documentary evidence' that he said it, whereas the following is verifiable:
'If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also
change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the
world change towards him.
... We need not wait to see what others do.'
... We need not wait to see what others do.'

As Morton contends, Gandhi is saying 'that personal and social transformation go hand in hand, but there is
no suggestion in his words that personal transformation is enough.'
